How can I repay the Lord for all the good done for me?” Ps 116:12
Dear people of God, these words of the Psalmist remind us of the immeasurable love of God and a call to remain grateful to God. God created us, loves us and provides for our needs. If we pause and try to count our blessings by naming every single one of them, it will dawn on us with surprise what God has done for us. So the Psalmist asks, what on earth can we individually or collectively use to repay the Lord for all the goodness poured on us? My dear people of God, nothing material can adequately pay for us; nothing indeed can pay God enough.
The only thing God desires from us is a grateful heart; a heart that is content and appreciative of what God gives us. “A thankful heart is a receiving heart, a happy heart and a holy heart”.
Looking back to the past, we have gone through a lot of positive and negative aspects of life; in spite of all these, one thing remains clear: WE HAVE LIFE! For life and all other things life affords us to do, we must be grateful to God. We must also show our appreciation to all family members, friends, loved ones, co-workers and even neighbours who have supported us.
I am at this point grateful and excited at our efforts as a Church family to continue to work to put out information for our parish Website and Directory. This affords us the opportunity to connect with one another and to the rest of the world. It is my utmost prayer that these efforts will bring us closer to one another and ultimately to God.
Let us cease every single moment of our lives to thank God so that God who knows what we desire will provide our needs. When prayers of gratitude go up God in turn pours down his blessings and goodness.
Let me cease this august platform to thank all the parishioners of St. Thomas Church/Assumption Mission for your voluntary attitude, commitment and contributions that have kept us going. May God replenish you all and fire us with more zeal for greater works for the Church.
God is good all the time and all the time God is good and that is His Nature!
